2025 - Level 6 Senior Collaborative Development Staffordshire University

Leviathons Gauntlet

One of my final projects at University was the Senior collaborative development module, this takes all the games related courses and puts every student into a group of around 30. The groups then spend 8 weeks making a game together. For this project I was assigned to do VFX, where I spent a chunk of time on the phantom ability due issues with art wanting effects they had not built models to accomodate, meaning I had to redo the modelling, and do the UV unwraps on top of the materials, when I am not an artist.

I enjoyed working on a set area like VFX where I could focus on one thing, howevr, the collab module really highlighted how dificult it is to get tasks completed when you are waiting on others to do their job too. It openend my eyes to help me focus on getting what I could done to the best of my ability and chasing down other departments for work or doing it myself.

2025 - Level 6 Games Development Project Staffordshire University

Dissertation Project

As part of my final year at University, I had my dissertation module which required me to research a topic and produce an artifact for it. I did research on whetrher having realistic car devlopment in a video game would help to eductae players on the way in which those parts interact with each other. The artifact allowed the testers to race around a circuit and apply realistically depicted upgrades.

This module allowed to me to get some experience in completing a research task, whichI thoroughly enjoyed because of the topic. With creating the project I made everything myself, even trying out making a realistic car model for the first time. I throughly enjoyed being able to do a project on a topic I love and learn new things because of it.

2025 - Level 6 Mobile Games Development Staffordshire University

Quick Shift

My final project to be completed at University was Quick Shift, the first game I was told to build for a mobile device. Due to having compplete freedom with it, I made everything myslef from scratch within it, the same as my dissertation, but I got to explore with a lot more elements for this, like UI, inventory management, in-game stores, cell shaders, more models etc.

The modeul allowed me learn what it is like to try and make a complete vertical slice of a game, combining a lot of what I have been taught and produing something with it for an intened theoretical goal.

2023 - Level 4 Welcome Week Game Jam Staffordshire University

Spookey Shooter

This Game was made by myself, Morgan Bailey, & Scott Lee in the Staffordshire University Welcome Week Games Jam. The was a lot of freedom with what game we could build and we decided to go for a Carnival Minigame like Duck Shooter. A big part of the Games Jam was learning how to work with people on a Programming Project, figuring out what everyone's Skills are and how we could best Utilise everyone's anilities to create a good Game. It was a lot of fun and the resulting Game we were very proud of.
